The drain plug is sort of rounded and hollowed out inside the head. I either heard or read that you should torque it at 40 ft. I saw in my repair manual that the torque for the drain plug is 60 ft lbs. Do it by feel and i never had an oil leak yet. I install the plug finger tight then tighten with a wrench 1/8 to 1/4. I had two used cars with them and after draining an hour and taking that thing out a lot of oil came out. On my previous '01 escape it was 19 ft lbs, and easy to find (the spec., that is).
